Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Four days until I go home. I've spent 2 months in Mongolia and 9 days in the Gobi Desert. What a sensational experience. Strange, but when people ask me "how's Mongolia?" I'm always at a loss for words. Not that there is little to say but rather that the ability to concretely describe my experience seems to escape me. There is no concise way to summarize my experience. For a play-by-play account, I will refer you all to my travel blog: www.mytb.org/LinzTrotter

So now I'm wrapping up my work at my host organization, Centre for Human Rights and Development, and preparing to deep clean my apartment. It's all mixed emotions right now. I'm excited to be going home to see my boyfriend and my family, but part of me is apprehensive. I have no idea how I will react to the counter-culture shock. Maybe it will be like slipping into a lukewarm bath. But it might be like pulling teeth and I hate dentists.

Overall these are all small details. Regardless of these, my overall experience has been beyond compelling. Again, there is no excellent word I can conjure up to explain it. But it was great. Maybe that's the only word I need.

It was great.
